Positive Press for Junior Achievement of East Central Ohio

Recently the staff and volunteers of the Junior Achievement of East Central Ohio were delighted to see their hard work showcased in a feature story, titled "JA volunteers are lending 'real world' financial help," that ran in the Canton Repository, their local newspaper.

Quoting the JA Area president, a committed volunteer, and a supportive educator, the reporter compellingly presented Junior Achievement as a powerful solutions provider for students and schools in the local community, especially in the wake of a mandate that requires high school students to have an introduction to financial literacy before graduation.

Each interview advanced the narrative. Dawn Campanelli, president of Junior Achievement of East Central Ohio, described the educational mandate. She also explained Junior Achievement programs and the importance of volunteers to the process.

Rob Lober, a volunteer, explained his motivations for teaching JA programs: He wants to help prevent future national economic struggles by increasing financial literacy in America, and he wants to keep young people from the consequences of bad credit by teaching them to manage money responsibly. Educator Kim Niddy praised JA volunteers as "invaluable" and endorsed Junior Achievement's ability to bring financial resources, such as scholarships, and businesses into the classroom.

All the parties agreed: JA is making a difference for young people.Feature stories such as this build regional brand awareness for Junior Achievement. In their region, Junior Achievement of East Central Ohio is now both better known and known better, which will likely make reaching their goals easier.

The story also provides encouragement to those who work tirelessly to empower young people, JA staff and volunteers. "This story is JA at its best - the conduit between the business and education worlds," wrote Dawn.
